About Us

Our Story

J. MacIsaac Studios is collaborative artistic adventure. We are a family of creatives who love to travel,  love to explore, and love to create. Our journey has been a wild adventure so far, and we have experienced many changes along the way!

We, Jason and Jennifer MacIsaac, began our journey together over a decade ago with the onset of our first great adventure. We sold all of our belongings and moved to Florida! When we arrived we had very little money so we had to get creative. One of my favorite memories from that time was our "Art Contest." The walls of our home were blank and needed a little decorating so we decided to each paint a picture, we would then have our friends vote on the best one. The winner would be hung in the living room above the sofa. We had so much fun painting and in the end we had some wall hangings to decorate our first home!

Fast forward many years, many adventures, and two kids later, we found ourselves living in Roslyn, WA and in need of a new adventure and a big change! We again decided to sell all of our belongings and move into a camper with our kids and our cat. Jason had been spending a lot of time taking photos and we had begun transferring his photos to wood panels. These panels made great travel souvenirs so we decided to hit the road and photograph our travels, selling them along the way to area gift shops and individuals.  Thus we began our studio with a three month road trip across the US back to Tennessee.
Many of our beautiful images came from that adventure! We called this time our Nomadic Art Project.

Nomadic Art Project

When we arrived in TN and resettled we began to rethink our studio. Life got busy and we dove into our work. I, (Jennifer) partnered with a friend to open a community art studio where I rediscovered my love of teaching art to others. The last several years have been focused on developing my teaching style. Along the way I also began to focus more on my paintings as well. So the studio has begun to change. What began as a Nomadic art project has become so much more. We still show and print our travel photos on wood panels, and we hope to continue to travel and create more images from our adventures. Now we also have expanded to include many of our other creative passions as well.

Much of our creative work these days is done in partnership with Jennifer's other businesses. The Basement Community Art Studio where Jennifer teaches classes for ages 6 mo-adult, and Creating Mindfulness where Jennifer is a co host for women's circles, classes, and retreats focused on combining both art and mindfulness practices.
Life has a funny way of twisting and turning and we may not know exactly what path the future will take, but we look forward to this next chapter in our creative development and hope that you will follow along. We would love to hear from you with any questions or comments about our art, the studio, or perhaps how we can better serve you in your creative path. feel free to email us at jmacisaacstudios@gmail.com.

XOXOX,

The MacIsaacs
